Well, in the period leading up to the two-hundredth anniversary, we had young children. Carys was born in 1990 and Iwan in ’93. So when the possibility arose to help out with the Tapestri, my hands were busy and there was no chance to take part in it, which made me sad. On the other hand, it was great for the two children at the time to have fun with dressing up and dance during the celebrations.
As a family, we lived in Croesgoch at the time, and the children went to school in the village there. But we were about to move to Pencaer. We had bought an old farm building in Tresinwen and my husband, who is a builder, intended to turn the building into our home. It needed a bit of work, but it was an interesting project in a special place. The French had been in Tresinwen in 1797.
In the pictures which have been taken in Fishguard Square, you can see Carys and Iwan with Anti Nansi. She’s my dad’s sister. She is one of the Fishguard women who had grown up in Lower Town, and had heard the story about Jemima every year since she was born. With her is Mrs Eirwen Howells, Cwm Gwaun.
In the picture where the children are dancing, Mrs Margaret Davies is in the background. She is Mererid Hopwood’s mother. The family lived in Pontiago, Pencaer, for centuries. That’s another place the French came to. The children were dancing in a twmpath that was held in the farm-yard of Bristgarn Farm. You can see Bristgarn on the Tapestry because that’s where the clock that got shot was. I believe it was the Jac y Do folk group were playing the music for the dance. The children enjoyed being out. It was strenuous and Iwan became tired very quickly because he was only four years old, but everyone enjoyed themselves.

We ni wedi prynu hen adeiladu ffarm yn Nhresinwen ac we'r gŵr, sy'n adeiladwr, yn bwriadu troi'r adeiladu yn gatre i ni. We ishe tipyn o waith ar y lle ond wedd hi'n broject diddorol mewn lle arbennig. We'r Ffrancod wedi bod yn Nhresinwen yn 1797.
Yn y lluniau sydd wedi eu tynnu ar Sgwâr Abergweun, mae Carys ac Iwan, gyda Anti Nansi. Hi yw chwaer fy nhad. Mae hi yn un o rocesi Abergweun, wedi ei magu lawr yn y Cwm, ac wedi clywed stori Jemeima pob blwyddyn ers ei geni. Gyda hi mae Mrs Eirwen Howells, Cwm Gwaun.
Yn y llun lle mae'r plant yn dawnsio, mae Mrs Margaret Davies yn y cefndir. Hi yw mam Mererid Hopwood. Mae y teulu wedi byw ym Mhontiago, Pencaer ers cenedlaethe . Dyma lleoliad arall lle y bu y Ffrancod. We'r plant yn dawnsio mewn twmpath a gynhaliwyd ar y ffald yn Fferm Bristgarn. Gwelir Bristgarn yn y Tapestri gan mai yma we'r cloc. Dwi'n meddwl mai grŵp gwerin Jac y Do we'n whare ar gyfer y dawnsio. Joiodd y plant mas draw. Wedd hi'n wêr yno, ac fe flinodd Iwan yn gynnar gan mai dim ond peder wêd wedd e, ond joiodd pawb.
